Cane Beds

We went to Cane Beds on Saturday to hunt for some pottery, lost Courtney, built a shade thing, found Courtney, and roasted hot dogs over the fire for lunch. (Not necessarily in that order)
We met Mom & Shirl out there so Randy could dig some holes to put in posts for some shade. While we were there and since it has been raining so much we wanted to look for some pottery, arrowheads, and mattate stones. While we were looking up on the hill, Courtney wanted to climb back down the hill to be with Ashley and Justin. So I watched her walk all the way down with them. Then I turned around looked for Pottery another 3 or 4 minutes and then Mom & I walked down the hill. I get to the bottom and notice Courtney missing. Nobody saw her come down. So not as panicked, but just a little bit we started looking for her. She was back up to the top of the hill looking for me. We had just missed her going down/going up. That is not a very fun experience for mothers.

We did find some pottery pieces, a half a mattate grinding stone, and Grandma found an arrowhead.
Then Grandpa Morrill's favorite thing to do. He got out his new air gun and they all got to shoot at a bottle. He also taught Justin a new trick which we just found out last night. We were at Grandma Kay's house. Justin comes in with an empty water bottle, says watch what I learned and puts it down on the ground with a stomp and the lid shoots off. "Who taught you that?" Grandpa Shirl did. Oh, that a nice fun game. Thanks Grandpa!

Randy got a start on some Shade. He dug his holes to put in posts and next time he will put up all the boards on top. For any of our family members who will spend any time at cane beds, that should be something to look forward to. We put it in the area that we usually camp at. He also wants to get a tractor out there and level the road all the way up to the camp spot. That will be really, really nice.

There were 5 new baby calves out there. Cute. Randy is going to take the scouts out there in the next couple weeks to brand. Lucky boys.
