I planted.....YEAH!

I planted the garden today. I know, I know, everyone else had there's in at least a week or more longer, but hey I was busy..... I didn't bring my camera....not so YEAH! I forgot and will try to get one later. I planted 12 tomato plants (6 big boy, and 6 I think Tommy something) I like the bigger ones to can with. Last year the bigger ones produced great and we got plenty. 3 jalepeno & 3 green pepper (for the salsa), 3 cucumber, 1 pumpkin (just a trial), 1 summer squash, 3 zucchini, 3 crook neck squash, and 1 cherry tomato plant for my summer salads. 30 in all. I have plans to can tomato soup, zucchini relish, lots of salsa (we ran out last year around October-we really liked it), last year I canned diced tomatoes and they turned out great. I cook alot with those, peaches when they come in season, freezer apricot jelly, maybe freezer strawberry jelly (I think it is in season now, so I need to find some good prices). I don't think I have all those recipes on the other blog and will add them as I do them.




Ashley was at school, but I took Courtney and Justin with me over to Grandma Kay's house. She has a bigger yard so I get to plant there. I figured Justin and Courtney would have fun digging in the dirt with me. They did for a little while until Uncle Tracey came out to play. He is down here staying at grandma's house while he does his last rotation for PA. After he graduates who knows where he will live and work so I am glad we get to visit often while he is here now. My kids LOVE Uncle Tracey. "Uuuuncle Traaceeey" Courtney yells, if you can imagine coming out of a 2 years old. Then when he sees her and tries to grab her she sqeals with laughter and runs away. While I was planting, Justin and Courtney were swinging and sliding with Tracey. He says he doesn't really like kids and doesn't understand why they like him so much. Whatever. If you saw him you would know that he loves them and my kids can't get enough of him. He is just awesome with them and constantly playing, throwing in the air after a catch from the slide. My kids are so lucky to have family members that love them so much and get to spend time with them.
